wanaka to queenstown

wanaka to queenstown
leaving my friends place i head out of town on S.H.6 towards queenstown passing though the town of luggate riding with a nice tail wind riding first neat the Clutha River then beside lake danstan ( the lake is a man made lake be hide the Clyde dam that was made in the 1980s? )
at cromwell i stop in for some food - many of the old building of the old Cromwell was moved/restored to be next to the new part of the town as the old town site now under water (because of the dam) heading out of town i take a new road for my riding as most of my riding down here is to Clyde to the rail trail - Dunedin and up the east coast . riding though the kawarau gorge i see signs of the gold russ times - old mine tunnels and bits of mining gear . as i get closer to queenstown i see parts of a new off road bike/walk trail (some time i need to come back here with a Mt bike: ) at the old kawarau bridge? i stop to look at the old bridge where they do bunyjumping jumping off it - theres a nice cafe where i get my water bottlers refueled and take photos of the landscape before getting back on the road. riding between
frankton and queenstown i decide to take an off road cycle/walking trail into town - getting into town i find out where a friend lives - yep up the top of a very steep hill ( in places i have fun keeping the front tire on the ground ) setting up my tent i head to bed . as im still up at 1 am i decide to type a story for some friends who have ask me to do one for they blog - getting that done a get some sleep : )
