after packing up my gear and getting on the  road where I keep riding along the lake until I get to aviemore dam where I cross back over the river on the  day .back on S.H.83 I ride along lake waitaki until I get to waitaki dam where I stop to get some photos but my camera batters are flat so I get back on the road to I get to the town of kurow where after getting some more AA batters (my camera run on AA batters so If the batters go flat I can get new batter in small towns) and leaving my panner bags and trailer at the info center I head back up the road to go and get some photos of the waitaki dam before heading back into kurow where I pick up my gear and have some food at a cafe before heading along the road to the coast stopping at some old rock drawing then back on road until I head  a flapping sound behind me - it's a flat tire on the trailer so after stoping to fix it I get in to the town of duntroom where there is an info center on  rocks and  an old blacksmith building  where I stop for a look around before heading for domain ($10 a night) for the night

heading into  the town of omarama I get some food for the road east before heading down the road towards the coast S.H.83 with the road heading mostly down hill beside one longer uphill climb with the road mostly going be side lake benmore . riding until i get to otematata where I turn off S.H.83 onto the road to the benmore dam (loch laird rd ) where I head up river to the base of the dam  where there is an info center where I spend a few hours looking around and having a chat to some people. back on the road I head up the hill to the top of the dam. after getting some photos I head a long the road on the other side of the river (te akatarawa rd) riding along the side of lake aviemore until I get to one on the lake side camp ground near dark where I set up camp for the night and cook some food

after a bit of an sleep in I get on the road riding along the cycle way beside the road until I get to the now closed info center where the cycle way heads off xc - it's a track around 1.5-2 across going though 3 gates with the track meting back up with the road about 2 km out of the town of twizel after getting some photos around town I head to the info center where there are photos of the canals and dam being made (1950-1980?) having lunch at the town bakery before getting some food for the next few days . the road from twizel to omarame has 2 long starts with the road climbing a bit then dropping a bit to omarame. riding a long until I get to the ahyriri river where there is a doc camp ground - after setting up camp for the night I decide to give my bike a clean - riding from tekapo to twizel I was only on open road for maybe 10% of the 60 odd km the rest of the time I was on the canal roads or on the new cycle way : )
