some where to kawatiri ( doc camp site and walkway to old rail tunnel)
back on the great taste trail i ride unto i get to a small town where i stop for food then its time to start climbing - heading up the first hill i see where the old rail line went (may be used as part of the cycle trail some time? ) it's a hot day so i take a few rests out of the sun on the way up the hill before taking a break at the top of the hill then is time fore the down hill stoping at a small down along the way then its time for the big climb up to the hope saddle - its slow going with the last few km being the steeper part. At the top I take a side road to a look out/ rest area where after stoping to look at the phone/face book/email. From the look out i can see the road that i be taking far way - it's a long way down : ) heading down the fun down hill i stop for a bit at a cycling backpacker place near gleanhope. back on the road i ride unto I get to kawatiri where there is a free doc camp site and a walk way along the old rail line though a tunnel so i decide to stop there for the night ending up chatting to maybe 10 people on touring bikes - lots of people bike touring on S.H.6
