Palmerston north to eketahuna 45 km
leaving the place where i spent the last 2 nights i head to the supper market as i think about which way to ride to eketahuna- going thought the gorge ( a longer busier but flatter way ) or heading over the ranges on the pahiatua track( a tar seal road from just out of Palmerston north to pahiatua that climbs over the tararna range ) this time i decide to use the pahiatua track turning off the road i use side roads for most of the way to ekelahuna - the climb over the big hill is some what easy today as there is little or no wind - it can be a hard ride in high winds/ rain. stoping at the top for a short break before its time to enjoy the fun down hill - having done this road a few times over the years i take not of some of the land marks so i know what roads to take after i turn off the main road ( the pahiatua track) theres a few hills to ride over before the road flatting out for the rest of the way to eketahuna. getting in to town i head to the library for a bit also stoping to chat to a few people on the street about the bike ride before heading to the camp ground for the night (around $6 a night ) latter one of my friends brings they horses down to the domain (where the camp ground is ) so i get to spend so time chatting up on things also getting to ride one of the horses back to they paddocks before heading to my friends home to chach up some more then its time to head back to my tent for the night
